Toilet Training From Birth

Have you heard about this movement (excuse the pun) to potty train babies from birth? Click here to read the Associated Press article that came out on August 28th about it.

Of course, we all love when we’re done with diapers, but I find it hard to believe that newborns have any bladder or bowel movement control. The experts quoted in the article agree with me.

However, the spokespeople from Diaper Free Baby claim that infants can initiate bowel movements on cue as young as three to four months old. Also, as the article states, in parts of the world where parents can’t afford diapers, going diaper-free from birth is common.

What do you think? Have you tried these early toilet training methods? What were the results?

I’d love to hear your comments on this issue as I can’t imagine not having my daughters use diapers when they were newborns. One person claimed that their baby was fully trained by 14 weeks. Whoa!
