The 5 Hardest Things about Being a Mom
In the May issue of Redbook Magazine there is a very honest article with the above title.
The 5 things are somewhat geared to moms whose kids are beyond the newborn stage. According to the article, these are the “top emotional challenges every mom must face”:
• When you don’t like your kid
• Letting Dad parent, too
• Separation anxiety (yours!)
• Accepting your child’s failures
• Learning to let go
Do you agree? When I was a new mom, 2 things that would definitely have been on my list were:
• Adjusting to the loss of freedom
• Sleep deprivation (to me this is an emotional issue because the lack of sleep could make me an emotional wreck!)
What 5 things would be on your list? What would your list of the “5 easiest things you’ve found about being a mom” look like?
Making your lists could be a nice journaling exercise for you. If you feel comfortable, send me your list or lists along with your city and state. With your permission, I may share them (using first names only) with your fellow blog readers or you have the option to remain anonymous .
Be sure to check in tomorrow for my interview with the author of Ten Zen Seconds. We’ll be discussing how the book’s techniques can help new parents stay centered and calm. You don’t want to miss it.
