Decorating for baby’s health
I found a great article about how to decorate the nursery for your baby’s health. The article is by Charlyne Varkonyi Schaub and you can find it here.
We usually focus on how pretty the nursery will be and not on potential health triggers. Your choices of products can help your child avoid asthma or other breathing problems. Where you place furniture and objects in the nursery can also help to keep your baby safe.
Some of the article’s tips include:
• Avoid vinyl wallpaper which can trap moisture and help mold grow.
• Use eco-friendly paints. Schwaub lists several brands in her article.
• Replace closet doors with louvered versions that allow air to circulate.
• Do not place the crib near a window. The baby could stand up and fall out.
Check out all the tips in the article. You can also order a free copy of the booklet, “A Baby’s Breath,” from the Florida American Lung Association. Call (561) 659-7644.
Happy Cinco de Mayo everybody!
