If I had a nickel ….

for every time a mom has told me she wishes she’d had my book after her baby was born, well, I’d have a lot of nickels! Just met a mother of a 10-month-old the other night at a writing class who said that very thing.

Unfortunately, many first-time pregnant women don’t see the need for the book because they can’t imagine that everything won’t go smoothly for them. Once their baby arrives, they are so caught up in the whirlwind of the postpartum months that they don’t get the book. When things calm down is when they realize how much it would have helped them earlier.

How do I reach these women at their time of need? My purpose from day one has been to provide a resource that helps new mothers. It breaks my heart when women tell me how they suffered alone not realizing that other new moms were going through similar experiences. :( I felt so alone after having a baby and I don’t want another woman to ever feel that way.

I would appreciate any ideas you have on how to get the word out. Any criticisms too about how I’ve gone about it are welcome. This truly isn’t a marketing ploy. I’m just questioning if the book is really getting to the people who need it. I guess I’m feeling down too about whether or not it is.
